Report: Browns Agree to Terms With QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson

Cleveland is set to officially sign their rookie quarterback.

Another one down. The Cleveland Browns have agreed to terms with their second of seven draft picks in last month’s NFL Draft. Cleveland has agreed to terms with QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson on his four-year deal, first reported by Brad Stainbrook of The OBR.

Thompson-Robinson was the first of two fifth-round picks made by the Browns. Cleveland selected the former UCLA Bruin with pick No. 140 in the draft. Now, the rookie quarterback is inked ahead of the rookie minicamp that will begin this weekend.

While at UCLA, DTR played a ton of football and was quite productive doing so. He improved from year to year and worked himself into being a developmental quarterback at the next level. While at UCLA, Thompson-Robinson played in five seasons, in total it was equal to about four full seasons. As a senior, he exploded for 27 touchdown passes and 3,169 passing yards, to go along with 645 rushing yards.

If all goes to plan, Thompson-Robinson will not see the field for the Browns, maybe ever. But the hope is that he forms into a quality backup and can take that spot from Joshua Dobbs, perhaps after this season. Cleveland hopes their franchise quarterback is Deshaun Watson for the long haul but if he were to go down, they have something behind him in this rookie.

Thompson-Robinson joins DT Siaki Ika as the two draft picks that have signed their rookie deals as of right now.
