Browns Grab a Top DT in Dane Brugler’s Mock Draft

In what is perhaps the most ideal player at the Cleveland Browns first draft pick in the third round of the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft, The Athletic’s Dane Brugler has Cleveland grabbing Gervon Dexter Sr, a defensive tackle out of Florida.

Dexter is regarded as one of the better defensive interior prospects in this draft. Dexter was a highly rated five-star recruit that played immediately as a freshman at Florida.

Each of the last two seasons, Dexter has recorded a pair of sacks and at least 50 tackles. Over his three seasons and 36 games at Florida, Dexter had 10.5 tackles for a loss.

The size you want is there in Dexter who can fill gaps and is athletic enough to work between them and get to the ball. Dexter is a strong player, with a strong frame and strong hands and it flashes on tape.

With the Browns recent defensive tackle woes, grabbing a player like Dexter makes a ton of sense to pair with the free agent acquisitions. It would potentially top off what looks like a nice overhaul of the position on paper.
