The Canadian Football League's Ottawa Redblacks have signed 2019 Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year Curtis Weaver, per the CFL transaction wire.

Weaver was a fifth-round selection in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins. He was waived by the Dolphins prior to the start of the season, but was picked up by the Cleveland Browns where he spent two seasons as a reserve. He appeared in one regular season game and made a tackle for the Browns. He has since had stints on the practice squads of the Minnesota Vikings and the Birmingham Stallions of the former USFL.

At Boise State, Weaver was a three-time first-team All-Mountain West selection. He still holds the conference record for career sacks with 34. The Long Beach native finished his college career with 46.5 tackles for loss.

In 2023, Ottawa missed the CFL playoffs with a 4-14 regular season record.

CFL training camps for the upcoming season are set to open on Sunday, May 14, 2024.
