3 Best Plays We Saw In The G5 In Week 5

Big plays this week kept the big guys rolling and gave some little guys hope

Week Five produced some electric results in the Group of Five. Once again we saw some P5 teams go down, and we saw some teams reassert themselves as New Year's Six contenders.

Here were the plays that turned our heads from this past weekend's G5 slate.

Marshall's 85-Yard Pick Six

Marshall remain one the Sun Belt's two undefeated squads after yesterday. In a one-score win over Old Dominion, a defensive score was a massive difference maker. Redshirt junior Elijah Alston picked off ODU's Jack Shields for an 85-yard touchdown. Alston also had six total tackles in the game and three QB hurries.

Smoke Harris Punt Return TD

It's unfortunate that the good things in this game were ultimately overshadowed by the actions of Brevin Randle. Ultimately though, the CUSA Preseason Special Teams Player of the Year Smoke Harris turned in one of the best plays of the weekend.

Finn Hogan's Incredible TD Catch For Bowling Green

It has not been a great start to the year for Bowling Green. Prior to Saturday, the Falcons were 1-3 with their only victory coming against FCS Eastern Illinois. They have some reason to celebrate now, however, after a 38-27 win at Georgia Tech. This gave BGSU their first ever victory over an ACC program.

The victory was spurred along by a spectacular grab by sophomore wide receiver Finn Hogan. Hogan finished the game with 102 receiving yards on six catches.

Honorable Mention

The person at UTEP who came up with whatever this promotion is deserves a raise.
