On Wednesday, former Boise State offensive coordinator Bush Hamdan's hiring by the University of Kentucky was officially announced by both programs. Hamdan spent the 2023 season as his alma mater's play caller and quarterbacks coach.

Boise State started the season with Andy Avalos as head coach, then Avalos was fired and eventually replaced full-time by defensive coordinator Spencer Danielson. The Broncos defeated UNLV in the league's title game in November under Danielson's direction.

Danielson released a statement through the university to local members of the media following the official announcement of Hamdan's hire at Kentucky.

“I wish Bush Hamdan the best in his next opportunity, but I know what we are building here at Boise State is special," the statement reads. "That leaves us with an opportunity to bring in another great offensive coordinator. Our national search for a new coordinator has already begun and I look forward to finalizing our staff as soon as possible. I’m excited to find another great play caller that will be an additional great mentor for our student-athletes.”

Hamdan led a Boise State offense that had the #6 rushing offense in FBS last season, averaging 214.9 yards on the ground per game. Hamdan will replace Liam Coen at Kentucky, who was recently hired to be the offensive coordinator for the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
