One of the most anticipated G5 matchups of the day put the 5-1 Wyoming Cowboys up against the 5-0 Air Force Falcons in Colorado Springs.

In an instant classic, the Falcons' run game led them to a 34-27 win over the visiting Cowboys, now making them 6-0. Air Force would rush for 358 yards, their third-highest total of the year.

The Falcons have now won 11 games in a row dating back to last season.

The first half was back-and-forth, but ultimately led to the Cowboys taking a 21-17 lead into the break.

In the second half, there was a clear momentum shift in favor of Air Force. The Falcons began the third quarter with a 17-play touchdown drive that went 75 yards in 10:13. They allowed Wyoming just one possession in the third quarter, which resulted in a punt after five plays.

At the start of the fourth quarter, Air Force tacked on a field goal, a rarity for the Falcons, for make it 27-21. Falcons' quarterback Zac Larrier exited the game with a leg injury, and was replaced by Jensen Jones. That's where things shifted again.

On Air Force's next possession, Jones and Emmanuel Michel mishandled a handoff and fumbled, which Wyoming recovered at the opposing 25-yard line. It was just Air Force's third turnover of the season.

On a fourth down with three to go, Andrew Peasley found Treyton Welch in the end zone for the game-tying touchdown. Air Force would then block the extra point attempt.

On the ensuing Air Force possession, Jones would fumble again on a tackle by Easton Gibbs, and Wyoming would recover again with 5:45 remaining. This would set up a 52-yard field goal attempt by Wyoming's John Hoyland, who missed his third kick of the night.

Air Forced countered with a 52-yard touchdown run by senior running back John Lee Eldridge on only his third carry of the game. Wyoming would then fail to convert a fourth down on their next possession, allowing Air Force to close out the game.

Troy Calhoun's team has now reached bowl eligibility four of the last five years and three years consecutively.

The Cowboys will have an open date next week before a road game against Boise State on October 28.

Air Force will travel to Annapolis to face Navy in the first Commander-In-Chief's Trophy matchup of the season.
