Hall Of Famer Dennis Rodman Receives Huge Ovation Before Bulls Vs Wizards Game

Chicago Bulls great Dennis Rodman appeared to get a little emotional when he was cheered prior to the team facing the Washington Wizards at United Center

Dennis Rodman should be used to attention.

He's been in the spotlight for nearly 40 years since his NBA playing days with the Detroit Pistons, San Antonio Spurs, Chicago Bulls and a few other teams. It hardly appeared Rodman was ready for an ovation before the Bulls played the Wizards Saturday at United Center.

Rodman appeared on the verge of an emotional breakdown when he was greeted with cheers.

"I don't know what to say," Rodman said. "Thank you."

Rodman was handed the microphone but it appears it was muted. Regardless, it was a nice gesture by the Bulls. He remains one of the most beloved players in franchise history.

The video is below.

Rodman won five championships, including two with the Pistons and three with the Bulls. He gained the most notoriety playing alongside Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen with the Bulls in the mid-1990s. In a surprise move, the Bulls signed him during the 1995 season after things fizzled out with the Spurs. It was even more shocking considering Rodman played with the Pistons, one of Jordan's biggest rivals.

The three Hall of Famers teamed to win three straight championships in Chicago from 1996-98. They won 72 games their first season, which is widely considered the greatest team in NBA history.

Rodman is arguably the first player to make rebounding an artform. Despite averaging double-figures only once in his career, he still made his mark on the league. He was a two-time All-Star and twice named Defensive Player of the Year.

In 2011, Rodman was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
