Barcelona To Wear Drake Logo On Match Jerseys During El Clasico

Barcelona's players will wear a special jersey celebrating Canadian rapper Drake during Sunday's Clasico against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.

The shirts will feature Drake's OVO owl symbol where the Spotify logo is usually displayed as part of the club's partnership with the streaming company.

Drake recently became the first artist to hit 50 billion streams on Spotify.

"This doesn't feel real but it is," Drake, 35, said on Instagram.

Barcelona's marketing vice-president Juli Guiu told the club's official website: "Our alliance with Spotify goes beyond a mere commercial relationship.

"As we have stated on numerous occasions, it is a strategic relationship through which we seek to bring together two worlds that can arouse emotion, namely music and football.

"This initiative is another example of this desire and the innovative spirit of our collaboration. For the first time in our history, we are replacing the name of our main partner on the front of the jersey with an internationally acclaimed artist in Drake, winner of 4 Grammy awards and record breaker in different categories, such as being the first artist to accumulate 50 billion streams on Spotify.

"This initiative shows our potential to become a unique platform to offer experiences that help bring us closer to our fans while reaching out to new audiences around the world."

Barca and Real will clash for the first time this season level on points.

Both teams have won seven and drawn one of their first eight matches in La Liga this season.

Barca are top on goal difference but the mood around the Camp Nou is perhaps less positive than at the Bernabeu because Xavi Hernandez's side look set to be eliminated from the Champions League.

A 3-3 draw against Inter Milan on Wednesday night left Barca with four points from four Champions League games and their chances of progression look very slim.
