Mauricio Pochettino And Chelsea Reach "Full Agreement": Former Tottenham Manager To Take Over From Frank Lampard In June

Mauricio Pochettino is set to start work as Chelsea manager in June after holding successful talks with the club.

The former Espanyol, Tottenham, Southampton and PSG boss was approached by Chelsea midway through April, around 10 days after Graham Potter had been fired.

Negotiations between Chelsea and Pochettino had been going on for approximately three weeks until top transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed on Saturday evening that the two parties had "reached full agreement".

Pochettino will reportedly take over from interim manager Frank Lampard once the current season is over.

Romano explained in an Instagram post: "Chelsea have reached full agreement to complete the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino as new head coach for next season — here we go!"

He added: "Deal at advanced stages since April and finally set to be completed in the next days as Poch has accepted.

"Former Tottenham and PSG coach will begin new chapter as Chelsea coach starting from June.

"Frank Lampard will remain the caretaker manager until end of the season then Pochettino will come in.

"Pochettino will bring his people for the coaching staff and will discuss transfer strategy with the club soon — he will be crucial part of player decisions."

The 51-year-old took charge of 256 games during his spells at Southampton and Spurs. He oversaw 132 wins, 61 draws and 63 losses.

His best ever season was the 2016/17 campaign when he led Tottenham to 86 points, which saw them finish second behind Chelsea on 93.
