In this story:

The City of Seattle must be on top of the world right now, following the Seahawks' 29-13 win over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX. It was the second NFL title for the franchise and it was on with all the qualities that symbolize the Emerald City: Strategy, integration, and good old-fashione grit. It's also providing perfect background for success that their friends next door at T-Mobile Park will try to follow now.

With the NFL season officially in the books, Seattle sports fans will now have their eyes filled with diamonds, as Spring Training gets underway today. While the weather is still a bit chilly, the Mariners have made some red-hot moves during the offseason that should help them surpass their 90-win total of a year ago.

The two organizations' success stories have been enough to get podcasters and analysts asking if the two teams' destiny is to honor the city twice in the same year by filling up the trophy case. And honestly? It's not really all that far-fetched, as the pair have a lot of connections.

Both Seattle teams have shown how to win 'the right way', by finding and drafting good young players and developing them, along with a mix of affordable (but still valuable) veterans. The market size of the city allows for them to win, without doing it in some ridiculous, cartoonish manner. Because of that, both teams are highly-regarded amongst their peers in the respective sports.

Both teams were recognized for their high-level performances. Particularly in late 2026, with the Seahawks securing a top NFC playoff spot and the Mariners coming off an ALCS appearance and having a strong standing in Major League Baseball. Also, 'hawks coach Mike MacDonald has noted the strong connection between the teams, expressing admiration for many of the Mariners icons like Ken Griffey Jr. during post-win interviews.

Perhaps things will turn in that direction, and the Mariners get to October. Even if they're playing a juggernaut like the two-time defending LA Dodgers, they could draw some inspiration from their neighbors next door at Lumen Field.

And maybe... just maybe, the Seahawks are holding up their shiny Lombardi Trophy, as a lantern to guide the Mariners through the dark waters, eventually landing on the shores of success.

They say good vibes only bring on more good vibes. Any among many fans in the Emerald City, the growing sentiment is that the Seahawks' winning momentum the spirits of the city's sports culture. That has been true in the past in other major markets, and now we might get a sequel to that this season If that's the case, 2026 could truly be the Year of Seattle Sports, and one that fans and faithful will never forget.
