New Reported Stadium Plans Could Have Browns Playing Elsewhere for Multiple Seasons

Cleveland Browns will have a freshly redone stadium in a few years, it looks to be. The work could cause the Browns to play elsewhere for a period of time.

In an interesting development, the Cleveland Browns could soon have to play some games away from the City of Cleveland.

According to a report, city officials will soon announce plans for a rebuilt stadium at the current site, instead of moving the stadium. Such work could start as soon as 2026 and would force the Browns to find another city to play in while the work is done. With close proximity to Columbus and Haslam’s connection due to owning the Columbus Crew, it comes off as an obvious temporary location.

"Cleveland would benefit tremendously from the development of the waterfront,” Haslam recently told reporters. The Haslams hope to develop the area of the lakefront in Cleveland, even connecting it to downtown.

“Having the stadium down there seems to be in everybody's best interest. So we're committed to redoing the stadium. In all likelihood, it's not going to have a dome, but it'll be a substantial remodel of the existing facility and we're probably 3, 4, or 5 years away from that happening."

The stadium is expected to cost more than $1 billion and will be a night and day difference from what it currently looks like.
