Texas State appear to have lost a defensive starter from their 2023 campaign. 6'3", 230-pound linebacker Dan Foster Jr. announced his intention to enter the transfer portal via social media this week.

Foster spent the first four seasons of his college career at Marshall from 2019 to 2022, playing mostly on special teams for the Herd. He totaled 16 tackles in Huntington. The Florida native transferred to Texas State prior to the 2023 season. He started 13 games for the Bobcats compiling 52 total tackles with 3.5 for a loss.

Foster will have one season of eligibility remaining.

The Spring transfer window is set to open on April 16 and close again on April 30.

The Bobcats will have 14 practice sessions this spring before their annual Spring Game on April 13. Texas State's regular season opener is set for August 31 in San Marcos when they host FCS opponent Lamar.
