Amarius Mims Ready to Block For Joe Burrow: 'It's A Blessing'
Cincinnati has fully fortified the outside of its offensive line this offseason.
CINCINNATI — The Bengals have three offensive tackles to rely on now as they try to beef up protection for quarterback Joe Burrow. Amarius Mims is the newest member of that group, and he's pumped to block for one of the league's best.
Mims discussed getting to play in front of Burrow on Thursday night.
“It's just wild because just watching Joe Burrow at LSU I was like, 'Oh my god. I would love to block for him one day,' and now that I have the chance to, it's a blessing," Mims said. "I just look forward to getting in and talking to him. It's almost like a little kid, getting to be around somebody you look up to at quarterback and say, 'You're one of those guys in college for me who I'd love to play with and block for.'”
It's unlikely Mims will start right away, but given how much injury attrition normally happens to offensive lines in an NFL season, he'll have to be ready.
Cincinnati cemented the 2024 line with the signing of Trent Brown and they've fortified that plan more for this year and beyond with the Mims selection.
