The 2024 NFL Combine begins this week in Indianapolis. From the Group of Five level, Toledo cornerback Quinyon Mitchell has arguably been the most discussed prospect of the offseason. Several major media outlets have mocked Mitchell as a first-round pick in their latest mock drafts.

This past Thursday, NFL Network analyst and veteran NFL scout Daniel Jeremiah hosted a conference call with NFL, discussing many of the prospects working out at the combine. Mitchell's name came up more than once as an example that could be an asset as a first-round pick.

One particular journalist asked about the defensive options for the Philadelphia Eagles' first selection at #22.

"To me I would love it if somehow you could get Quinyon Mitchell, but I think he is probably -- after the Senior Bowl and the tape that he has put out, he is probably going to be long gone," Jeremiah responded.

Another journalist asked about the defensive needs of the Pittsburgh Steelers that needed to be addressed with their #20 overall pick. Jeremiah noted that adding a cornerback was an offseason objective that "they need to get accomplished."

"If you want to say what's a home run pick, like if you could write it in right now and turn it in and somehow guarantee it would happen, putting Quinyon Mitchell from Toledo on the opposite side of who you took last year with Joey Porter, Jr. I think would be -- man, that would be a heck of a young secondary with Minkah at the top of the Christmas tree there. That would be a fun defense to watch."

Defensive backs are schedule to work out Friday, March 1, as part of the combine festivities. Fans can watch the broadcast at 3 PM on NFL Network.
