Podcast: Charlotte Football Preview and Navy's Bad Day in Ireland
Welcome to week 1! Week Zero provided plenty of exciting games. Unfortunately, Joe was in Ireland watching Navy's game with one of today's guests: AAC and service academy football expert Emily Van Buskirk. The two battled some technical difficulties on the Emerald Isle to bring some reaction to the Mids' 42-3 loss to Notre Dame. Then, Eric Henry of 247Sports joins alongside another old friend of his and Joe's: Hunter Bailey of The Charlotte Observer. Hunter brings some observations about one of the AAC's newest teams as Week 1 looms. Happy football watching!

Navy HC Brian Newberry pretty much summed up Navy's performance against their long-time rival in week zero action. Newberry said ""I didn't think it would take a miracle to win the game, but I knew we would have to play our best. I don't think we did."
Maybe next time when you're stateside, coach.
Speaking of coaches, Biff Poggi has made waves ever since he was hired to lead the Charlotte program. Can he live up to the expectations he set for himself? Or is he all talk? Time will tell.
One thing that certainly helps his chances is the return of running back Shadrick Byrd, who averaged 4.2 yards per carry in 2022 for the 49ers. He'll have help on the other side of the ball from a defensive line that's landed a handful of players on preseason watch lists.
