Former Louisiana-Monroe offensive lineman Tellek Lockette will stay in the Sun Belt Conference and join G.J. Kinne and Texas State, giving the Bobcats a talented and rising lineman up front to protect returning quarterback T.J. Finley.

The 6-4, 330-pounder started 15 games over two seasons for the Warhawks. After serving in a platoon role as a freshman, Lockette rounded into form during his second collegiate season, grading out as a winner in eight of the team’s 13 games this season and was rated by Pro Football Focus as one of the top pass blocking guards in the Sun Belt Conference.

Lockette started 12 of 13 games at right guard, with his highest-graded game of the season ironically coming against Texas State in Week Seven.

Additionally, Lockette comes from a football family as his father, Telly Lockette is part of Charles Huff’s staff at Marshall as the team’s Run Game Coordinator/Running Backs’ coach and has been a part of coaching staffs at Florida State, Oregon and South Florida under Willie Taggart.

Lockette is expected to arrive in time for spring camp and should be a natural shoe-in to start in San Marcos.
