Cincinnati Reds Select Wake Forest Right-Hander Chase Burns With No. 2 Overall Pick in 2024 MLB Draft

CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Reds selected Wake Forest right-hander star Chase Burns with the second pick in the 2024 MLB Draft.
The 21-year-old posted a 2.70 ERA in 16 starts for the Demon Deacons this season. He had 191 strikeouts in 100 innings.
This is the second-straight year the Reds have taken a Wake Forest pitcher in the first round. They took Rhett Lower with the seventh overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft.
The Cleveland Guardians took Oregon State second baseman Travis Bazzana with the first overall selection.
