Cincinnati Bengals Should Address Big Weakness By Signing Recently Released Pro Bowler Jonathan Allen

CINCINNATI — The Commanders are releasing two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Jonathan Allen.

The veteran was set to make $15 million this season. He had 19 tackles and three sacks in eight games last year.

Allen's play has dropped off over the past two seasons according to Pro Football Focus. The Bengals may be leery of paying big money for the veteran, but they need significant upgrades in their defensive line room.

Allen could be part of the solution to their issues—at least for the 2025 season. The Bengals and other teams can try to sign Allen before the legal tampering period begins on Monday. The Commanders did him a solid by releasing him before free agency.
