The University of Memphis football program announced Tuesday that head coach Ryan Silverfield had been granted a five-year contract extension, theoretically keeping Silverfield with the Tigers through the 2028 season.

Silverfield will make $200,000 per year in base salary with the rest being "non-salary compensation divided equally between radio and television appearance availability and public relations, public service and public speaking appearance availability." Silverfield will make $2.2 million for the 2024 season, $2.25 million for the 2025 season, $2.5 million for the 2026 season, $2.6 million for the 2027 season and $2.7 million for the 2028 season.

"We are extremely excited to make this commitment to Coach Silverfield to keep him leading our football program into the future," Memphis AD Laird Veatch said in a press release. "Coach Silverfield guided the team to one of the best seasons in program history in 2023 and we believe he's laid the foundation to help Memphis ascend even higher in the expanded College Football Playoff era."

In four seasons as the head coach at Memphis, Silverfield has amassed a 31-18 record with a 3-0 bowl record, including a 10-3 record in 2023. The Tigers are searching for their first AAC title since 2019.
