Arguably the best player in the history of Middle Tennessee Blue Raider football, safety Kevin Byard will be continuing his pro career this upcoming season in the Windy City.

Per NFL Network's Ian Rappaport, Byard will sign a two-year, $15 million deal with the Chicago Bears this week.

Byard is one of two former MTSU players to have their jersey retired by the Blue Raiders (Ted Morris, 1965). He ended his college career as MTSU's all-time leader in interceptions (19), interception return yards (377), interception return touchdowns (4). He is one of only nine MTSU players to total 300 or more tackles.

In 2016, Byard began his NFL career with the Tennessee Titans as a third-round pick. He was named the NFL's Walter Payton Man of the Year in 2020.

In 2023, Byard played six games with the Titans before being traded to Philadelphia in October. He was released by the Eagles on March 1.

2024 will mark Byard's ninth season as a pro.
