Browns Deshaun Watson may Have First Case go to Trial

Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson has some legal issues to work out in the near future.

Things are trending toward Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson having more than football to worry about this off-season. Watson has had 23 civil suits against him settled, one thrown out, while one could be heading for a trial. To this point, there has been no civil suit make it to trial but that is in jeopardy of changing.

Lauren Baxley, a licensed massage therapist, has accused Watson of improperly exposing himself to her and causing his genitals to touch her during a massage session in June 2020, when Watson was playing for the Houston Texans at the time.

“Today we filed a motion to put Lauren Baxley’s case on the trial docket, in the Houston court where it was originally filed,” attorney Tony Buzbee said.

“All other victims in the Deshaun Watson litigation that this firm represented have settled their claims. Ms. Baxley, to her credit, has refused, and wants a public trial. I intend to help give her that. She is entitled to have a trial on her claims; I will proudly present her case. Ms. Baxley has a strong case, and I encourage the internet trolls to take note as we proceed.”

Buzbee is a familiar name, as he’s handled the majority of the cases against Watson, and is again handling this one. This case will be the first one to be put in front of a public hearing, unlike the 23 others that were settled.

One other case remains against Watson besides the one of Baxley’s.

In 2022, the NFL suspended Watson for 11 games due to violating the player conduct policy in direct correlation with the lawsuits.
