In their upcoming second season under head coach Lance Taylor, the Western Michigan Broncos look to be making key changes on the defensive side of the ball.

Per a report from ESPN's Pete Thamel, the Broncos are promoting linebackers coach Scott Power to the defensive coordinator role. Power was hired to WMU in January after spending last season with Louisiana Tech. Power was fired from LA Tech in November.

WMU's special teams coordinator Jeff Popovich was reportedly also promoted to co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach. 

WMU also has a new offensive coordinator this year after bringing in former UMass head coach Walt Bell in the offseason.Former offensive coordinator Billy Cosh was named the head coach at Stony Brook in December.

2023 WMU defensive coordinator Lou Esposito accepted the same role at Memphis back in January.

The Broncos will begin spring practices on Monday, March 18. They will have 14 total days of practice before their annual Spring Game on Saturday, April 20 at Waldo Stadium. Kickoff time has yet to be announced.

Western Michigan finished the 2023 season with a record of 4-8. The Broncos will open the 2024 regular season on August 31 at Wisconsin.
