JMU's quarterback problem for 2024 appears to be solved.

Brandon Huffman of 247Sports reported Friday afternoon that University of Washington backup quarterback Dylan Morris will move to James Madison for the 2024 season. Huffman also reported that Morris will suit up for the Huskies in Monday's national championship game, and then join JMU later in the week.

JMU's 2023 starting quarterback, and Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year, Jordan McCloud is in the transfer portal, but has not announced a destination for next season yet. JMU reached their first bowl game at the FBS level in 2023. Bob Chesney was recently hired to be the program's next head coach.

Morris was the Huskies' starting quarterback in 2021, throwing for 2,458 yards with 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. UW went 4-8 that year. In his college career, Morris has passed for 3,721 yards, completing just over sixty percent of his passes, with 20 touchdowns and 17 interceptions.

Coming out of high school , Morris was a four-star prospect and the #5 pro-style quarterback in the class of 2019. The Puyallup, Washington native has spent the last two seasons backing up Michael Penix, a finalist for the Heisman trophy in 2023.

Morris will have one year of eligibility remaining.
