Injury Update: Latest on Reds Rookie Pitcher Chase Burns

In this story:
Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Chase Burns has been on the injured list with a right flexor tendon strain since the middle of August.
As of Friday, Burns was playing long toss. MLB.com's Mark Sheldon reported that plans for a rehab assignment remain on hold.
The 22-year-old is 0-3 with a 5.24 ERA and 57 strikeouts in eight games and 34 1/3 innings pitched.
Burns is thought to be on a pitch count this season. It will be interesting to see if the Reds put him in the bullpen down the stretch or elect to slot him back into the rotation when he is healthy.
The Reds are 67-62 and currently 1 1/2 games back of the New York Mets for the third and final National League Wild Card spot. Andrew Abbott will start on the mound for Cincinnati in Sunday's game against Arizona.
