Here's What NFL Teams Should Do If They Truly Want to Trade for Bengals Star Tee Higgins

In this story:
CINCINNATI — Multiple teams are interested in trading for Tee Higgins, but the Bengals made it clear that he isn't available.
Of course, that doesn't stop an NFL team from signing Higgins to an offer sheet.
The Bengals used the non-exclusive franchise tag on the 26-year-old. That means a team could reach out to his agents Rocky Arceneaux and Caitlin Aoki of Alliance Sports Management and negotiate a long-term deal.
If the two sides agree to terms and Higgins signs an offer sheet with another team, the Bengals would have the right to match. If the Bengals decline, they would receive two first round picks from the team that signed Higgins to the offer sheet.
That's probably the only realistic scenario where the Bengals would entertain trading Higgins.
On the flip side, it's hard to imagine a team signing Higgins to an offer sheet, knowing they'd have to give the Bengals two first round picks for the star receiver.
That's why these teams have reportedly reached out to the Bengals directly about a trade and aren't negotiating with Higgins.
The Bengals and another team can agree on trade compensation for Higgins that isn't impacted by the non-exclusive franchise tag that includes an offer sheet and two first round picks.
There's only one problem: the Bengals have no desire to trade Higgins. If a team truly wants him, then they should try to sign him to an offer sheet. Otherwise, it's hard to see a scenario where the Bengals trade Higgins this offseason.
