Cincinnati Bengals Should Keep Close Eye on Texas Running Back Jaydon Blue Ahead of 2025 NFL Draft

CINCINNATI — Texas running back Jaydon Blue is a name Bengals fans should know because he could be a target on day 3 of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Blue repotedly ran a 4.25-4.28 40-yard dash at the Texas Pro Day. He only has 214 career carries, but has good hands coming out of the backfield and would give the Bengals another home run threat in the backfield alongside Chase Brown.
"Blue played behind very good backs, so his carry count is lower, but he clearly has talent." NFL.com's Lance Zierlein wrote in his evaluation. "He’s a narrow-hipped, linear runner with good speed to threaten wide and attack downfield out of the backfield. He has adequate wiggle in the open field but lacks base strength to break tackles. Blue’s lack of tempo and vision inside gets him behind schedule and could limit how teams use him as a ball-carrier. While he can be labeled a 'change-of-pace slasher,' his real value will revolve around his ability to mismatch linebackers and threaten defenses as a receiver out of the backfield."
If the Bengals added a dynamic, pass catching running back like Blue to an offense that already has Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Brown, it would just make them that much tougher to defend. It's always good to give Joe Burrow another true threat that could turn a short gain into an explosive play.
Blue ran for 730 yards and eight touchdowns last season. He also had 42 catches for 368 yards and six receiving touchdowns.
He's 5-foot-9, 196 pounds and is a name to know ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft. Check out one of his highlights below:
