A Potential Replacement For Drew Petzing on Browns Staff
There's potential the Cleveland Browns could look toward a rival to fill their open quarterback's coaching position. According to one writer, Kevin Stefanski may try to get James Urban to leave the Baltimore Ravens to join his staff.
Stefanski has tried to hire Urban before and the two have been long-time friends. There is a lot of uncertainty in Baltimore around the quarterback position, so getting away may not be so far-fetched for Urban.
Urban is 49 years old and started as a college coach before joining the Philadelphia Eagles as an assistant to the head coach in 2004. In 2009, Urban coached quarterbacks for the Eagles, it was his first position coaching job in the NFL. Urban spent 2011-17 with the Cincinnati Bengals coaching the wideouts. He's been with the Ravens since 2018.
With the Cardinals giving Drew Petzing a promotion to offensive coordinator off of the Browns staff, Cleveland is now tasked with finding a new QB coach. It will be an important hire as this person will work with their franchise quarterback Deshaun Watson. Don't be surprised if Stefanski goes with a veteran coach like Urban.
