Allen Iverson Reveals His All-Time Starting Lineup

Allen Iverson leaves himself off of his all-time starting lineup on Shaquille O’Neal’s The Big Podcast

Allen Iverson is a Hall-of-Fame point guard, but he managed to leave himself off of his all-time starting five.

Iverson joined Shaquille O’Neal on The Big Podcast Thursday. He was asked about who would be in his starting lineup. Iverson immediately put Steph Curry at the point guard spot. “You have to be in it,” co-host Adam Lefkoe said immediately after.

Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, and Shaquille O’Neal rounded out the rest of Iverson’s lineup.

Iverson had a great career in his own right. He was the first pick in the same draft as Bryant. Iverson won Rookie Of The Year in 1997 while averaging 23.5 points and 7.5 assists. By 1998-99, he was leading the NBA with 26.8 points. Iverson was an All-Star by his fourth season and was given that honor 11 times throughout his career. In 2000-01, Iverson led the NBA in points and steals. He was named the league’s MVP and carried his Philadelphia 76ers team to the NBA Finals.

Overall, there were enough good things to say about Iverson’s career that could have made him at least consider himself his own all-time starting five.

Interestingly enough, Iverson actually faced off against Curry twice during the 2009-10 season. Curry was a rookie and it was Iverson’s last year in the NBA. The main knock against Iverson is that he never won a championship. Curry has won four and is still playing some of the best basketball of his career

Iverson and Curry are two of the 18 point guards named to the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team.
