Julius Erving Explains Why He Left LeBron James, Steph Curry Off Top 10 Players List
NBA Hall of Famer Julius Erving is like most when it comes to picking an all-time Top 10 players list.
He followed suit by picking players from his era, excluding the likes of Steph Curry, LeBron James, Tim Duncan, Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant. Erving at least gave his reason during an interview with media personality Joy DeAngela.
"(Curry) hadn't even played long enough. He gotta finish his career," Erving said. "Everybody I named in there, their career's finished."
Erving, who did not include himself on the list, chose Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West and Elgin Baylor as his starting five. The second five was Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Karl Malone and Nate Archibald.
It should be noted Jordan and James are both generally regarded as the greatest players in league history but were ranked lower than usual by Erving.
