Joe Burrow Left Outside Top-10 in Madden 23 Deep Accuracy Rating

CINCINNATI — Madden Ratings week concluded on Friday with Joe Burrow getting a rather accurate overall rating, but he did get snubbed in one key category: deep passing accuracy.

Burrow checked in 12th among all QBs with an 86 deep accuracy rating, behind the likes of Deshaun Watson (87), Derrick Carr (87), and Kirk Cousins (89).

This rating is quizzical because, according to Johnny Kinsley's Deep Ball Project, Burrow was the fifth-most accurate deep passer in the league last season. He completed 47.54% of his deep balls but was on target across 59% of those 61 passes in 2021.

That blows away some of the names I mentioned above, like Cousins (11th, 54% accuracy), and Carr (16th, 48% accuracy). Toss in the fact that Burrow led the league in yards per attempt (8.9 YPA), and the head-scratching turns into a sore quickly.
