Following the firing of special teams coach Mike Priefer, the Cleveland Browns are moving quickly to fill that role. Cleveland had requested to interview Indianapolis Colts assistant Raymond Ventrone for the job, per a report.

You may recognize the name. Yes, the Ventrone that played for the Browns from 2009-12. Ventrone player in the NFL from 2005-14, getting his start with the New England Patriots and ending with the San Francisco 49ers.

Ventrone is the favorite for the job, the same role he currently holds with Indianapolis. Ventrone had been with the Colts since 2018, before that he was the assistant special teams coach with the Patriots for three seasons.

Ventrone is 40 years old and would give the Browns a young, well-regarded special teams mind. It could be especially beneficial for kicker Cade York.

Update: Multiple people believe that Ventrone has taken the job in Cleveland already, per a report.
