Mo Salah Scores 150th EPL Goal For Liverpool By Finishing Off Fine Counter-Attack Against Newcastle

Mo Salah scored the Premier League's first goal of 2024 to put Liverpool 1-0 up against Newcastle 49 minutes into Monday's game at Anfield.

Luis Diaz and Dan Burn both had goals disallowed for offside before Salah opened the scoring by finishing off a fine counter-attacking move involving Darwin Nunez, Dominik Szoboszlai and Diaz.

This was Salah's 150th Premier League goal for Liverpool - his 152nd in the competition overall, after he netted twice in 13 league matches as a Chelsea player between 2014 and 2015.

Salah - playing in his final game for the Reds before jetting off to the Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt - had earlier failed to convert a penalty kick after Diaz was fouled by Sven Botman.

Liverpool were thoroughly deserving of their 1-0 lead when it arrived early in the second half. Salah's goal came from Liverpool's 20th shot of the game.

But Newcastle equalized five minutes later when Alexander Isak found the net from Newcastle's second shot.

Liverpool went on to beat Newcastle 4-2.

Curtis Jones put the Reds back ahead in the 74th minute before Salah set up Cody Gakpo to make it 3-1.

Botman pulled another goal back for the Magpies but Salah wrapped up a deserved victory late on by converting his side's second penalty kick of the night.
