Former Cincinnati Reds Outfielder Released by Seattle Mariners

Former Cincinnati Reds outfielder Jacob Hurtubise was released by the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday, according to the team's transaction log.

After the Reds designated Hurtubise for assignment in June, he signed with the Mariners. However, he continued to struggled with Seattle's Triple-A team, going just 4-34 at the plate in 12 games.

Hurtubise made Cincinnati's opening day roster and appeared in 12 games this season for the Reds. He went 1-12 with a walk and six strikeouts.

After being sent to Triple-A Louisville, Hurtubise continued to struggle, slashing just .144/.336/.186 in 34 games with the Bats.

The Reds designated him for assignment on June 14 when they acquired Ryan Vilade off of waivers from the Cardinals.
