Bengals' Joe Burrow Shares Downside of Winning Comeback Player of the Year For Second Time

CINCINNATI — Joe Burrow won the 2024 NFL Comeback Player of the Year award on Thursday night.
The Bengals star quarterback overcame a severe right wrist injury to his throwing arm. Not only did he return to form, but he was even better, completing a career-high 70.6% of his passes for a league leading 4,918 yards and 43 touchdowns.
Burrow joins Chad Pennington as the second player to win the award twice. He also won it in 2021 after leading the Bengals to Super Bowl LVI just one year after suffering a torn ACL.
“I wouldn’t say this is necessarily an award you wanna be nominated for two times,” Burrow said on Thursday night. "I'm proud of the work I've put in to come back from these injuries I seem to face every year. Fortunately I'm healthy this year. I have a great [physical trainers] team around me. ... In the offseason we put together a great plan to help me go play my best on Sundays and come back from these injuries stronger."
Burrow finished fourth in MVP voting and fifth in Offensive Player of the Year voting.
His passing yards and passing touchdowns not only led the NFL, but set new Bengals franchise records. Watch his entire acceptance speech below:
