Multiple Veterans Could Be Released, May Be Ideal Fit for Bengals in Free Agency

The Bengals are hoping to re-tool their defense this offseason.

INDIANAPOLIS — The Bengals have plenty of holes they need to fill this offseason. It sounds like there could be a few veterans hitting the free agent market

Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander could be released if they don't find a trade partner for the 28-year-old. He's only appeared in 14 games over the past two seasons. Alexander is a two-time Pro Bowler. He was the 18th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Titans edge rusher Harold Landry is also on the chopping block. Tennessee gave Landry permission to seek a trade according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. If they don't find any takers for the two-years and $35 million he has left on his deal, then he'll likely be released.

Trading for Alexander could make some sense, but the Bengals would likely wait on Landry to be released if they were interested in him.

Regardless, there will be veteran players that are released in the coming weeks that could make sense for the Bengals. And who knows, maybe they'd kick the tires on a trade—especially for a two-time Pro Bowl cornerback like Alexander.
