Inter Miami teased fans on Wednesday by publishing a cheeky tweet about the imminent arrival of Lionel Messi.

It was posted minutes after Messi had confirmed in an interview with SPORT and Mundo Deportivo that he will be joining the Fort Lauderdale outfit this summer.

Messi had previously been linked with a return to former club Barcelona, while a mega-money move to Saudi Arabia with Al-Hilal was also said to be a possibility.

Miami's social media team gleefully mocked these reports in a video montage featuring multiple old headlines from Messi's now-concluded transfer saga.

One frame of the video featured a tweet by The Athletic from March, which read: "Lionel Messi? In #MLS? The idea seems far-fetched."

The video, which did not include a caption, received over 200,000 likes and retweets within an hour, making it Inter Miami's most popular post ever on Twitter.
