Tottenham Twice Come From Behind To Draw At Man United In Front Of Sir Jim Ratcliffe

Tottenham Hotspur twice came from behind to draw 2-2 with Manchester United in a pulsating Premier League game at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The match was watched in person by United's new minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Ratcliffe was on his feet celebrating inside the opening three minutes after Rasmus Hojlund fired the home side ahead.

Richarlison equalized for Spurs before Marcus Rashford restored United's lead.

But Rodrigo Bentancur hit back again for Tottenham, who were the better team on the balance of play.

Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero both returned from hamstring injuries as Spurs fielded their best back four for the first time since November 6.

But a combination of fitness issues and international call-ups meant that Ange Postecoglou was missing Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr, James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski and captain Son Heung-min from his first-choice XI.

United took the lead just 154 seconds into the game when Hojlund nailed a fierce left-footed strike from 11 yards.

Hojlund smashed a shot into the top corner of Guglielmo Vicario's net after collecting a loose ball following Destiny Udogie's tackle on Rashford inside the penalty area.

Spurs had scored in each of their last 32 Premier League matches and that record was extended to 33 when Richarlison deftly headed home from a Pedro Porro corner kick in the 19th minute.

Tottenham were dominating the game in terms of possession and territory but United looked dangerous on the break and almost retook the lead when Udogie headed the ball onto his own post.

United did go back ahead in the 40th minute when Rashford scored his first home goal for United since May with an unsavable low shot following a one-two with Hojlund.

Spurs twice went close to equalizing before half-time. Timo Werner dragged a shot wide before Romero rattled the crossbar from another fine Porro corner.

The equalizer eventually arrived 51 seconds into the second half when Bentancur beat Andre Onana with an excellent left-footed finish after being set up by Werner.

Despite plenty more penalty-box action, there were no more goals.

United had the chance to steal all three points in added time but Scott McTominay headed over the bar.

Ratcliffe grinned broadly as he posed for selfies with United fans after the final whistle.

But after seeing his new team outplayed by an understrength Spurs side, he will be in no doubt that there is a lot of work to be done under his stewardship.
