PSG Win at Nantes After Benching Kylian Mbappe

Paris Saint-Germain won 2-0 at Nantes on Saturday night to move 14 points clear in Ligue 1.

This was PSG's first game since Kylian Mbappe officially told club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi that he would be leaving this summer.

Perhaps with one eye on the future, PSG manager Luis Enrique opted to start against Nantes with Mbappe on the bench.

PSG struggled in his absence before taking the lead on the hour-mark from a heavily-deflected strike by Lucas Hernandez.

Mbappe was substituted on moments later and he took less than 20 minutes to register his 32nd club goal of the season.

The 25-year-old nutmegged Douglas Augusto, who then fouled him to give away a penalty kick.

Mbappe - who by now was wearing the captain's armband after Marquinhos had been subbed off - converted the spot-kick before celebrating with a grin while pointing down the lens of a nearby television camera.
