Shemar Stewart Reportedly Did Not Workout With Texas A&M Football Team This Summer

Conflicting reports.

CINCINNATI — Shemar Stewart didn't join workouts with the Texas A&M Aggies football team this summer after an update on the situation from The Enquirer's Kelsey Conway report from CBS Sports' Bud Elliot claimed he did.

Conway posted on X Tuesday that Stewart was working out in the A&M team facilities this offseason, but was not part of the actual team workouts. It's another chapter in the ongoing contract saga that's left him without any on-field reps entering mid July.

Elliott stated on the Cover Three podcast that a source reached out to him over the weekend about Stewart working out with the team and possibly returning to Texas A&M. Stewart still has eligibility remaining at A&M, but is not allowed to play this coming season if he returned.

"A guy who has had some good (Texas) A&M stuff in the past, he hit me, he's like, 'Hey, Shemar might end up back here . . . He's been at College Station. He's been fully involved in workouts,'" Elliott noted on the show. "He could try to come back and play again this season and go into the draft again next year." 

Stewart is nearing the July 18 date when Amarius Mims signed his rookie contract last season with no signs of progress on a dispute over standard language about the voiding of guarantees that hasn't been precedent from the Bengals.

The clock is ticking for pen to ink paper ahead of training camp next week or Stewart could miss more valuable reps in a wide-open Bengals edge rushing room.

Shemar Stewart lives in Texas when he's not in Cincinnati. I can confirm from a source that he is training at A&M by himself using their facilities (very common) to get ready for the upcoming NFL season. Not with the Texas A&M team.
