CINCINNATI — NFL insider Josina Anderson shared an update on Ja'Marr Chase's contract talks with the Bengals.

Chase, 25, is expected to become the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL this offseason.

His contract is expected to be worth $40+ million per season.

NFL insider Josina Anderson shared an update on Chase's possible contract with the Bengals.

"No injury waiver in Chase's deal," Anderson tweeted.

The update could mean that the Bengals are getting closer to an extension with their star receiver.

We have an idea about the money: somewhere in the $41 million range. We also know that it'll be a four-year extension.

Is the "no injury waiver" tweet a sign that the Bengals and Chase's agent Rocky Arceneaux are ironing out specific details of the potential deal?

It isn't shocking to hear that there isn't an injury waiver in a possible Chase deal. He had a healthy 2024 season that ended with him becoming the fifth wide receiver since the 1970 merger to lead the league in receptions (127), receiving yards (1,708) and receiving touchdowns (17).

What Anderson's tweet does signal is that the Bengals and Chase's camp could be moving forward to the more minute details of the contract. Chase will likely have injury guarantees in his new contract, much like Joe Burrow got when he signed his deal in 2023.

It's worth noting that Chase and the Bengals can agree to a long-term contract extension at any time.

Chase is entering his fifth season with the Bengals. They picked him with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
