Cowboys Jerry Jones Still Happy With Decision to Send Amari Cooper to Cleveland

Jerry Jones has no regrets on sending wide receiver Amari Cooper to Cleveland for a late round draft pick.

Cleveland Browns traded a fifth-round pick last offseason to the Dallas Cowboys to gain their No. 1 wide receiver in Amari Cooper. Despite the lopsided trade, Dallas owner Jerry Jones still feels good about shipping Cooper to Cleveland.

“When I look at the salary involved, over $20 million a year, and I look at what we got with that salary to help this team that we wouldn’t have been able to have with this team, had we kept him, I like what we did,” Jones said.

Wideout CeeDee Lamb took a big step forward by totaling 1,359 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. The problem was that the Cowboys didn't have a second wideout with more than Noah Brown's 555 yards. Rookie Jalen Tolbert did next to nothing, and it took a while for Michael Gallup to recover from a torn ACL.

When you look at some of the other wideout contracts around the NFL, it shows why the Browns have no problem paying one of the best route runners $20 million a year.
