Al-Hilal Break World Record For Longest Winning Run by a Top-Flight Team

Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal now hold the world record for most consecutive wins by a top-flight team after extending their streak to 28 games.

Al-Hilal broke the record on Tuesday by winning 2-0 away at fellow Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ittihad to progress to the semi-finals of the AFC Champions League.

The record had previously been held by Welsh team The New Saints, who won 27 matches in a row in 2016.

Al-Hilal have won every game in all competitions since drawing 1-1 with Damac on September 21.

That remarkable run of results has helped Al-Hilal move 12 points clear of Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.

Al-Hilal have also made it to the semi-finals of this season's King Cup.

Saudi Arabia's most successful club signed former Premier League players Kalidou Koulibaly, Ruben Neves and Aleksandar Mitrovic last summer.

Neymar also joined from Paris Saint-Germain at the start of the current season but he has so far only featured in five matches after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in October.
