Veteran Safety Michael Thomas Praises Bengals' Rookies, Including First Round Pick Dax Hill

This is a good sign for the Bengals' rookie class.

CINCINNATI — The Bengals added three defensive backs to their roster in the 2022 NFL Draft.

First, they took Dax Hill in round one, Cam Taylor-Britt in round two and Tycen Anderson in the fifth round.

Veteran safety Michael Thomas praised the front office for adding quality young players to the secondary.

"First off, our scouting department, they did their homework. I'm talking across the board: character, talent skill level," Thomas said on the Bengals Booth Podcast. "What impressed me was their willingness to learn. They're asking questions. If they mess up, 'hey, what did I do wrong here? How can I do better?'"

Thomas signed a one-year deal to return to Cincinnati this offseason. He's been really impressed with Hill, who the Bengals took with the 31st overall pick.

"You see him going redline to redline already," Thomas said. "I seen his versatility. I love his leadership too. I love his leadership. I love the way that he's asking questions, even as a young guy. He understands the situation, but at the same time he's going out here trying to learn and get better every single day. When you see that, you're like 'alright, I can respect you for that.'"

Hill is getting reps with the first team offense since Jessie Bates hasn't reported for offseason workouts. He's playing safety, nickel cornerback and has clearly made quite an impression on the veterans in the locker room.

The Bengals are banking on him to make an impact in 2022 and beyond.
