Joe Burrow Reflects on Final Play of Super Bowl LVI

"I was anticipating throwing it."

CINCINNATI — Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow knows how close he was to making one of the biggest plays in Super Bowl history.

The 25-year-old checked to a go-route on 4th-and-1 at the Rams 49-yard line with 43 seconds remaining.

Star wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase beat Jalen Ramsey deep downfield and was wide open for the game winning score.

Unfortunately for Burrow and the Bengals, Aaron Donald wrecked their plans. He beat Quinton Spain and hit Cincinnati's star quarterback less than a second before he was going to throw the ball to Chase.

"I checked to that go-route, I was anticipating throwing it, just didn't quite have the time," Burrow said on Tuesday. "Like I said, we've put this behind us. We lost, we had a great year, we're going forward."

Tuesday was the first time Burrow has talked with the media since the night of the Super Bowl. Some may not want to watch the film, but he didn't shy away from it, even though it wasn't the outcome he wanted.

"I watched it the next day," Burrow said. "I just treated it like another game week that week after [the loss]. I watched it the day after and saw the things I need to improve and the things we did well and moved on."

Burrow and the Bengals have turned the page, even though that play may live with fans for years to come. Watch his entire news conference below and subscribe to our YouTube Channel.
