CINCINNATI — Bengals cornerback Trae Waynes missed Monday's practice with a hamstring injury according to head coach Zac Taylor.

The veteran participated in Saturday's session. He was on the field, but didn't participate in any drills and didn't have a helmet.

"Very minor," Taylor said after practice. "Hopefully he'll be ready in a couple of days."

Offensive lineman Fred Johnson (quad) also missed practice. The 24-year-old could miss at least a week with the injury.

Waynes missed all of last season with a torn pectoral muscle. The Bengals are hoping he can be their top cornerback with William Jackson III no longer in town. Johnson is battling for one of the backup tackle spots.

Neither injury appears to be serious, but soft tissue injuries like hamstrings and quads can linger if they don't heal properly.
