Seahawks Loss Could Help Speed Up Browns Defensive Coordinator Hiring Process

The San Francisco 49ers did the Cleveland Browns a favor when they defeated the Seattle Seahawks in the wild-card round on Saturday. With the loss, potential Browns defensive coordinator target Sean Desai will be able to interview.

Desai is the associate head coach with the Seahawks and one of the candidates the Browns had not yet been able to interview. Cleveland was already able to bring in Brian Flores and Jim Schwartz, while Jarod Mayo pulled his name off the market.

Desai was with the Chicago Bears organization and finished as the defensive coordinator in 2021. He is 39 years old and began his coaching career at Temple, before going to Miami (FL) and then Boston College.

With the Seahawks out of the playoffs, expect the Browns to interview Desai for the open defensive coordinator position in the coming days. If he is the guy, expect the Browns to move fast to fill the vacancy left by the firing of Joe Woods.
