Jude Bellingham Confirmed As Real Madrid's Second Most Expensive Signing Ever... For Now

Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of England midfielder Jude Bellingham.

The 19-year-old joins the Spanish giants after three impressive seasons in Germany with Borussia Dortmund.

Bellingham has signed a six-year contract with Real, tying him to the club until the summer of 2029.

Real will pay Dortmund an initial fee of €103 million but his former club could eventually receive as much as €133.9m due to various performance-based add-ons.

That means that Bellingham is currently Real's second most expensive signing of all time, after Eden Hazard, who arrived from Chelsea in 2019 for a €115m transfer fee.

But Bellingham could become Real's outright record signing, depending on how much is paid in add-ons.

Bellingham is also now the third most expensive teenager in world soccer, after Joao Felix (€126m) and Kylian Mbappe (€180m).

Real announced the signing of Bellingham in an official statement on Wednesday.

It read: "Real Madrid CF and Borussia Dortmund have agreed on the transfer of the player Jude Bellingham, who will remain linked to our club for the next six seasons.

"Tomorrow, Thursday, June 15, at 12:00 noon at Real Madrid City, the presentation ceremony for Jude Bellingham as a new Real Madrid player will take place.

"Next, Jude Bellingham will appear before the media."

Meanwhile, Bellingham said goodbye to Dortmund in a statement published on the German club's website.

He said: ''Thank you everyone associated with BVB and the fans for everything over the last 3 years. It was an honor to wear your jersey so many times whether it was in the high or low moments.

"Whilst I'm happy about my next destination I will never forget the journey I went on to get there. Einmal Borusse, immer Borusse. Best of luck for the future. Heja BVB!"

Bellingham scored 12 goals and provided 15 assists in three Bundesliga seasons for Dortmund.

He also captained Dortmund on multiple occasions.

Bellingham will be the sixth Englishman to play for Real, after Laurie Cunningham, Steve McManaman, David Beckham, Michael Owen and Jonathan Woodgate.
