Man United And Man City Stars Win The Best FIFA Goalkeeper Awards

Manchester City's Ederson has been named The Best FIFA Men's Goalkeeper for 2023.

Ederson received the award on Monday at The Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony in London.

The Brazilian stopper topped the vote ahead of fellow finalists Yassine Bounou and Thibaut Courtois.

Despite being voted as The Best FIFA Men's Goalkeeper, Ederson missed out on a place in the 2023 FIFA FIFPRO Men's World 11, with Courtois getting the nod instead.

Ederson was a key member of City's treble-winning team last season.

Although he played just 45 minutes of City's victorious FA Cup campaign, Ederson started 35 Premier League games and featured in 11 Champions League matches.

Ederson is the second Brazilian to win The Best FIFA Men's Goalkeeper Award, after Liverpool's Alisson Becker in 2019.

The Best FIFA Women's Goalkeeper Award was won by Manchester United and England star Mary Earps on Monday.

Earps became the first player to win the prize in back-to-back years, having also been voted as the best female keeper in 2022.

The 30-year-old helped England reach the final of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup in August.

Earps saved a penalty kick from Spain's Jenni Hermoso in the final but could not stop England falling to a 1-0 defeat.

She also tasted defeat in the Women's FA Cup final with Man United in May last year but was on the winning side at Wembley in April when England beat Brazil in the first ever Women's Finalissima.

Earps topped The Best FIFA Women's Goalkeeper vote for 2023 ahead of Australia's Mackenzie Arnold and Spain's Cata Coll.
