The Gunners prevailed 5-4 on spot-kicks after the game had ended 1-1 in 90 minutes.

But Eddie Nketiah equalized for the home side 12 minutes later with a controlled volley at the far post following a corner kick from Gabriel Martinelli.

Monaco came closest to scoring the game's third goal when Wissam Ben Yedder struck the post from close range early in the second half.

However, the match ended level and required penalties to separate the sides.

Arsenal scored all five of their spot-kicks - thanks to Martin Odegaard, Jorginho, Kai Havertz, Fabio Vieira and center-back Gabriel.

But former Liverpool forward Takumi Minamino saw his effort from 12 yards saved by Gunners keeper Aaron Ramsdale.

Arsenal have now won four of the last five editions of the Emirates Cup.
