One-Liner:

A mobile passer with multiple arm slots and notable velocity.

Evaluation:

Long, limber quarterback. Smooth drop into a wide base that generates velocity. Pocket maneuverability to get out of trouble. Won’t get caught on #1 and will work down in his progression. Can throw on the run with touch. Multiple arm slots to create tight window throws and velocity to cut threw the MOF. Can drive the ball outside the hashes with plus arm strength. Corky release, everything looks kind of tight in his upper half, not fluid or flowing. Misses a lot of boundary fades. Can hold onto the ball for too long. Becomes erratic when pressured, makes poor decisions, and too many errant throws. MOF vision is a question mark. Bagent is from a smaller level of football but he has certain traits that are omnipresent in NFL quarterbacks. His size and arm talent mainly shine, with an ability to shred defenses over the middle field and outside the hashes. His mechanics and decision-making, paired with his division 2 resume will be the concerns as he’s evaluated. With an invite to the Senior Bowl, Bagent has a great opportunity to make himself considerable gain amongst NFL teams during the pre-draft process.

Grade:

UDFA

Background:

Tyson Bagent is a returning starter for Shepherd University in 2021, where he started in all 15 games, and led NCAA II in passing yards (5,000) , and passing touchdowns (53). Since stepping on campus, Bagent has started in every game for the past 5 seasons. Unranked in high school Bagent, a 2018 graduate of Martinsburg High School led the Bulldogs to a pair of state football championships while passing for 7,800 yards and 112 touchdowns. With Bagent coming back for the 2022 season, Shepherd will have a veteran leader on the offensive side of the ball.
